She/Hers
I help clients to heal their relationship with food and their bodies. I assist individuals recovering from eating disorders as well as those who are interested in cultivating a sustainable, flexible, pleasurable approach to nourishing themselves.
I believe all bodies are deserving of respectful care and provide weight-neutral nutrition therapy to assist individuals in achieving their health goals.
As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with 6 years of experience in higher levels of care and outpatient practice, my career has centered on eating disorder recovery work as well as supporting clients who want to take care of themselves without falling into the harmful cycle of dieting.
I started to learn about nutrition my freshman year of college as I moved out on my own and learned to cook and take care of myself. I loved learning about food science and how our eating patterns can impact our wellbeing and help us feel better. I switched from majoring in history to nutrition, but I noticed early on that the sometimes weight-centric approach to health did not fully resonate with me. I worried this approach could be ineffective for some and potentially harmful.
I felt called to do something different and decided to explore the niche of eating disorder recovery work. My graduate work and internship focused on this, and this path challenged me to look at my own internalized beliefs about health, bodies, and food. In my coursework, I learned about Health At Every Size® and Intuitive Eating which resonated deeply with me. I feel most passionate about helping others broaden their understanding of health and develop a non-diet approach to taking care of themselves. I also enjoy talking about cooking and supporting those who want to incorporate enjoyable movement into their lives. I personally enjoy cycling, rock climbing, and hiking – anything outdoors!
Approach & Philosophy
I believe individuals are the ultimate expert in themselves. It is important to me to understand where my clients are coming from – how their lived experience impacts their needs and contributes to their strengths and internal wisdom. I strive to partner with and empower my clients as they explore their health goals. We work together to find a pattern of eating that is right for them and supports their individual needs. I bring warmth, empathy, gentle humor, and pragmatism to my work. My approach is informed by Health at Every Size ® and Intuitive Eating principles, and I provide weight-neutral care. I believe all individuals are deserving of nonjudgmental and respectful support independent of body size, gender identity, ability, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
Education and Training
I received a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition from Central Washington University and went on to Northern Illinois University to complete my dietetic internship and Master of Science in Nutrition. I chose NIU for my graduate work for the program’s specialization certificate in eating disorders. I remain passionate about this work and am a certified eating disorder dietitian (CEDRD) through the International Association of Eating Disorders.
